Dr. Philipp Glaser-Gallion founded GALLION Consult in 2024 to accompany companies on their path to sustainable growth. With his extensive experience in strategic business consulting and his entrepreneurial background, he develops customized growth strategies together with our customers.
Our History
From the first wallpaper shop in 1862 to modern management consulting in 2024 – one family, one tradition, one vision.
The Foundation
Through this small advertisement, the public learned about the company GALLION. On September 16, Wilhelm Gallion founded a trading house for carpets and wallpapers in the center of Stuttgart. The wallpaper, which was not yet widely used at the time, required cigars as a common side item to get walk-in customers into the store.
The Rise
In 1902, GALLION was appointed royal court supplier. The predicate was the highest public recognition for a capable company at that time.
The Destruction
The expansion continued until the First World War. The first generational change to son-in-law Eugen Glaser-Gallion had taken place. The period from 1914-1945 posed great challenges to the company. The end of the war reflected total defeat also in the substance of the business. Stocks from the external warehouses were looted. GALLION had to start from scratch.
Growth
Dr. Fritz Glaser-Gallion, great-grandson of the founder, takes over the management of the company after the death of his brother. The company grows to 1500 employees. Additional branches are opened in Reutlingen, Ulm, Karlsruhe, Villingen and Regensburg.
The Sale
After 120 years of existence, GALLION experiences the typical fate of many family businesses: In the 5th generation, ownership is fragmented, most owners are further removed from entrepreneurial activities. When the market develops negatively, GALLION is no longer sufficiently capable of acting. A foreign market participant successfully continues the company.
The Transition
This history shapes the brothers Jörg and Markus Glaser-Gallion. Jörg begins his career in the GALLION industry environment in the USA and then switches to an established medium-sized management consultancy. Markus begins his professional career as a management consultant. In 2003, he joins Voith Industrial Services, today Leadec. In 2015, he takes over its chairmanship and leads Leadec to become a global service provider for automation, installation and maintenance.
